KAS 2021 Syllabus for Prelims Exam

The prelims exam consists of two papers.

In this segment, you have to study current events of National and International importance. The history of India is an important subject. Pay attention to the general understanding of the subject in social, economic, cultural, and political aspects. Focus on India National Movement and especially emphasize on Karnataka.

        2. Paper-II: KAS Exam 2021 Syllabus

Study the current events of importance of Karnataka state and important Government programs. This paper also includes a section on general science and technology. For this section, study topics like environment and ecology developments in science and its everyday implications. 

For the general mental ability part, practice logical reasoning, comprehension, analytical ability, decision making, problem-solving, basic number theory, and data interpretation up to X/SSLC Level.

     1. KAS Syllabus 2021 for English

The English paper consists of passage-based comprehension, vocabulary, usage, precise writing, short essay writing, and communication skills. Each of these topics has an equal weightage of 25 marks. 

     2. KAS Syllabus 2021 for General Studies I

For General Studies I, cover topics like Modern History of India and Indian Culture with a focus on History and Culture of Karnataka, current events of the state of Karnataka, statistical analysis, graphs, and diagrams.

      3. KAS Syllabus 2021 for General Studies II

Study Indian Politics regarding the politics of Karnataka, the Indian economy with a focus on the economics of Karnataka, and Indian Geography along with Karnataka Geography. Also, you have to go through the role and impact of science and technology on the development of Karnataka.

Exam Pattern According to KAS 2021 Syllabus

1. Exam pattern for Preliminary Exam 

The preliminary exam is the first phase which includes two papers. Each paper has 100 questions of 2 marks each. In paper I, 40 questions are asked from general studies related to National and International importance and 60 questions from Humanities. Paper-II comprises 40 questions from general studies, 30 questions from general science, technology, environment, ecology, and 30 mental ability questions. In total, the prelims exam is of 400 marks.

      2. Exam pattern for Mains Exam

The mains exam has eight papers in total. Paper I is of 150 marks in Kannada, Paper-II is of 150 marks in English, and Papers III and IV are of General Studies that can fetch you a maximum score of 300. For papers V, VI, VII, and VIII, candidates should choose two subjects from the optional subjects provided above. Each of the two subjects will have two papers of 300 marks. 

Educational Qualification for KPSC KAS Exam

To appear in the KAS Exam 2021, a candidate must possess a Bachelor’s or a Master’s Degree in any field from a recognized University or college. One must be between 21 to 35 years of age to attend the exam. Age relaxations are given in different categories for which you can refer to the official examination brochure.
