The Indian Armed Forces are under the management of the Ministry of Defence Of the Government of India. With a strength of over 1.4 million active personnel, it is the world’s second-largest military force and has the world’s largest volunteer army.

The Indian Armed Forces comprise three divisions – the Indian Army, the Indian Navy, and the Indian Air Force.

The Indian Navy is the maritime branch of the Indian Armed Forces. The primary objective of the navy is to safeguard the nation’s maritime borders, and in conjunction with other Armed Forces of the union, act to deter or defeat any threats or aggression against the territory, people, or maritime interests of India, both in war and peace.

Indian Air Force – The Indian Air Force is the air arm of the Indian Armed Forces. Its complement of personnel and aircraft assets ranks third amongst the air forces of the world. Its primary mission is to secure Indian airspace and to conduct aerial warfare during armed conflict.

Defence has 3 wings majorly, 1. Army 2. Navy and 3. Air force, all the three has different requirements for Army For the post of Soldier GD, the candidate should have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 33% marks or equivalent. For the post of Soldier Technical, the candidate should have passed 10+2 with a Science background (PCM), with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent. for NDA (Nation Defence Academy)  - one must be an An Indian national who is unmarried and has completed 12th from a recognized board with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and has not attended the age of 19 while applying are eligible for the NDA exam.and for Air force (AFCAT) Air Force Common Admission Test - Through the AFCAT exam candidates are recruited in the Indian Air Force for the following branches-

Defence exams which are eligible after 12th are NDA(National Defence Academy) Exams, NDA NDA exam is conducted twice a year in two stages-written exam and SSB interview. UPSC NDA written exam comprises two papers-Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). Both the papers of the written exam carry objective type questions. Total 270 questions are asked in the NDA exam, out of which 120 questions are for Maths and 150 for GAT. The total marks allotted to the exam are 900 marks. The section-wise qualifying marks for the written exam are 25 per cent.
