  • Specifically, this year the day falls on 3rd March 2020, Tuesday.

World Wildlife Day Theme

  • “Sustaining all life on Earth” is the World Wildlife Day 2020 Theme. The theme encloses all species as key elements of the world’s biodiversity.
  • World Wildlife Day 2019 theme focuses on the conservation and sustainable use of marine wildlife.-“Life Below Water: For people and planet”.

History of World Wildlife Day

Chiefly, the UN General Assembly on the 68th session decided to observe the day on 3rd March every year. On 20th December 2013, the day was decided. Specifically, the date 3rd March is the adoption of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (Cites)  of Wild Fauna and Flora in 1973.

World Wildlife Day Activities

Annually, several activities are done to celebrate the day. This year will host several major world events that place biodiversity at the forefront of the global sustainable development agenda.

  • The CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) Secretariat, UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and other UN system organizations, Member States, biodiversity-related conventions and civil society, are planning a series of events.
  • Also, social media activities based on wildlife conservation programs. Together with on 3 March 2020, a film festival and international youth art competition. The venue at the UN Headquarters in New York

In short, Himalai wants to observe the World Wildlife Day 2020 as a part of Our India with World Events to raise public awareness towards the significance of Wildlife.
