INS Shikra hosts Naval Investiture Ceremony
The Naval Investiture Ceremony for 2019 was held at the maritime helicopter base INS Shikra of Western Naval Command (WNC), Mumbai on 10 Apr 19.
Naval commander Sunil Lanba PVSM, AVSM, ADC, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), for the benefit of the President of India, presented Gallantry and non-Gallantry Awards reported on the Republic Day this year to exemplary work force, just as references to Naval units which have separated themselves amid the previous year. The service was seen by senior dignitaries of the Indian Navy and groups of the awardees.
A 50-men Guard of Honor was marched amid the stylized motorcade which was held as a piece of the Investiture service. The Guard of Honor was assessed by Admiral Sunil Lanba before surveying the motorcade containing 18 detachments of Naval staff drawn from different boats and foundations of WNC.
On culmination of the audit, the CNS granted the awards, references and CNS Trophy for Best Green Practices to the different beneficiaries. 45 awards which included 18 Nao Sena Medals for Gallantry, 09 Nao Sena Medals for Devotion to Duty and 16 VishishtSeva Medals for recognized administration, the Capt Ravi Dhir Memorial Gold Medal for Promoting Innovativeness in Flight Safety and the Lt VK Jain Memorial Gold Medal for best connected research in Naval Technology were displayed.
The CNS likewise displayed Unit Citations to four above water units, viz. INS Trishul, INS Sahyadri, INAS 322 and INS Tarasa and four shorewards units – NSRY (Kochi), INS Utkrosh, INHS Kalyani and Material Organization (Mumbai) – for conveying uncommon execution in the course of the last one year. Maritime Dockyard (Vizag) and INS Dwarka were granted the ‘CNS Trophy for Best Green Practices’ for their condition well disposed green activities.
Talking on the event, Admiral Lanba said that the event is of extraordinary hugeness as it has enabled the Navy to formally recognize prominent demonstrations of heroism, just as commitment to obligation, of individual shipmates. He expressed gratitude toward the relatives of the honor victors for their help to the administration staff in execution of their obligation.
