CCI approves Hitachi’s proposed acquisition of 80.1% in power grid business of ABB Limited

  • The proposed acquisition of 80.1% stake by Hitachi in the power grid business of ABB Limited, approved by the Competition Commission of India (CCI). 
  • Chiefly, approval made in its meeting held on 7th April 2020 through video conferencing.
  • The proposed combination beholds acquisition of 80.1% share capital of ABB Management Holding AG (ABB Management) by Hitachi Limited (Hitachi) from ABB Limited (ABB).

  • Presently, more than 6300 PMJAKs are functioning across the nation, covering 726 districts of the country. 

 Ministry of Human Resources Development launches “Samadhan” a challenge to fight against covid19 and future challenges

  • In order to test the ability of students to innovate, launched a mega online challenge – SAMADHAN. 
  • The Ministry of Human Resources Development Innovation Cell and All India Council for Technical Education coupled with Forge and Innovation Curis launched the programme. 
  • Particularly, “Samadhan” challenge will motivate the students and faculty to do new experiments and new discoveries. The last date for application submission of “Samadhan” Challenge is 14 April 2020.

CSIR-CFTRI to provide testing equipment for COVID-19 detection

  • In Mysuru, the number of positive cases touched 28. More than that, seven cases reported within a span of 24 hours i.e.,7th April 2020. 
  • This is as per the latest media bulletin released by the Karnataka Health Department. 
  • By making available equipment needed for testing of samples, Mysore-based CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR-CFTRI) joined hands with the district administration.
