NITI Aayog Report on Building a 21st Century Health System for India
The report on ‘Health Systems for a New India: Building Blocks—Potential Pathways to Reforms’, NITI Aayog released. Chiefly, NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Dr Rajiv Kumar in the presence of Bill Gates released the report.
As a key point, the report identified 5 focus areas of the future health system.
Particularly, the report analysis highlights that investments in strengthening the current health system will lead to better social and economic dividend for India.
Bharatiya Poshan Krishi Kosh (BPKK) launched on 18th November 2019 in New Delhi.
Smriti Zubin Irani, the Union Minister of Women and Child Development (WCD) and Textiles, together with Bill Gates, co-chair of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation launched the event.
Bill Gates conveyed that solving problems like malnutrition among women, expectant mothers and children will bring a dramatic change in the development of India. Further, help the country to attain the SDGs.
Inclusion of New Tribes Under ST List
The Government of India(GOI) on 15.6.1999, has specified the terms for determining the claims for modification in the Orders specifying the list of Scheduled Tribes.
Based on conditions, only those proposals recommended by the concerned State Government/ Union Territory Administration and agreed by Registrar General of India (RGI)to be considered for amendment of legislation.
Also, the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes to be considered for amendment of legislation. Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Smt. Renuka Singh Saruta in a written reply in Lok Sabha conveyed the message.
Ministry of Tourism has classified 31 Adventure Tourism Activities under the ‘Indian Adventure Tourism Guidelines 2018’ – Tourism Minister
The Ministry of Tourism classified 31 Adventure Tourism Activities. Particularly, land-based, water-based and air-based. Under the revised Guideline ‘Indian Adventure Tourism Guidelines – 2018’ (Version 2.0).
Specifically, under the supervision of State Govts./UTs , adventure tourism activities take place in various States/UTs depending on the terrain and availability of infrastructures.
Further, the Ministry of Tourism provides Central Financial Assistance to State Governments/UT Administrations. As part of the Incredible India Campaign promotion adventure tourism highlighted.
Atal Innovation Mission(AIM) in schools: Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’
AIM is encouraging the schools to provide exposure to science and technology to students to get futuristic technology platforms.
Consequently, NITI Aayog AIM set up with the goal to create scientific temper and cultivate a spirit of curiosity and innovation.
Further, the initiative is to ‘Cultivate 1 Million children in India as Neoteric Innovators’.
National Policy on Biofuels
The Government approves“Pradhan Mantri JI-VAN (Jaiv Indhan- Vatavaran Anukool FasalAwashesh Nivaran) Yojana” for providing financial support to Integrated Bio-Ethanol Projects.
Besides, the Department of Food & Public Distribution (DFPD) informs the total effective ethanol production capacity of the distilleries is about 355 crore litres per annum.
Sustainable Alternative Towards the Affordable Transportation (SATAT) scheme envisages establishing 5000 Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants across the country by 2023.
Targets fixed under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) Scheme
PMUY releases State /UT wise annual LPG connection including 11.05 lakh LPG customers with 5 Kg connections.
Furthermore, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana(PMUY) has No State/District-wise targets.
Besides, the targets set under PMUY is already an achievement by the Government.
NHAI issue Implementation of FASTag Mandate
National Electronic Toll Collection (FASTag) program implements a pan India basis for Toll collection using passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.
Further, the trial run of the FASTag authorizes at identified NH fee plazas from November 1st, 2019 onwards.
Consequently, to purchase FASTag there are over 28,500 locations set up by various banks and IHMCL/NHAI.
‘Make in India’ initiatives introduced by the Ministry of Defence
Several steps taken by the ministry of defense to promote ‘Make In India’ initiative in the defense sector.
In particular, the Ministry decided to provide investment or funding to different MSME, startups to carry out R&D.
‘Mission Raksha Gyan Shakti’ introduced in November 2018 to provide a boost in the indigenous defense industry.
Defence Export Policy to enhance Defence exports.
With the intention to enhance Defence exports the government has taken various measures.
Especially,category 6 titled “Munitions List” which includes Special Chemicals, Organisms, Materials, Equipment, and Technologies (SCOMET).
Open General Export License introduced to permits the industry to export specified items to specified destinations without export authorization.
Joint Exercise ‘the Roar of the Sea’ between the Qatari Emiri Navy and the Indian Navy Forces
A joint exercise between the Indian Navy and Qatari Emiri Naval Forces being conducted from 17th November 2019 to 21st November 2019.
Especially, the Exercise Roar of the Sea includes a three-day Harbour Phase and Two days Sea Phase.
Specifically, it includes the versatile Anti-Ship Missile equipped Barzan Class Fast Attack Craft along with Rafale multi-task fighter aircraft.
Measures to fill the technological gap in PSEs
The administrative jurisdiction of the concerned Ministry/Department governs All Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) function.
Specifically, the Board of Directors of a CPSE conducts the monitoring of the performance of the concerned CPSE .
Under the system of MOU for CPSEs R&D, Innovation and Technology up-gradation’ included as a non-financial parameter.
