This year 26th November marks the 10th year of the Mumbai terror attack, one of the horrific days in Indian history.
10 years back in 2008, on this day 10 Pakistan terrorist arrived from the sea route from Karachi and started an open fire against the civilians.
166 people were killed in this incident including 16 security personals. Crores of economical damages were done during the Mumbai blast.
It was a strategic attack, in which targets were chosen carefully to have maximum impact. The targeted areas were Taj and Oberoi Hotels, the Leopold Café, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and the Jewish center at Nariman House.
The attack continued for three days from 26th November to 29th
It took a combined effort of National Security Guard, Marine commandos, Rapid Action personnel, and Mumbai police to end the attack.
The only terrorist who was captured alive was Ajmal Kasab, who was hanged on November 21st,
The brave hearts who sacrificed their lives are then Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare, Police Commissioner Ashok Kamte, Army Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, and Senior Police Inspector Vijay Salaskar.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid the tribute to the martyr today at the police memorial site at Mumbai Police Gymkhana in south Mumbai.
The other dignitaries who attended the wreath-laying ceremony for the remembrance of Mumbai blast martyr are Governor Vidyasagar Rao, Mumbai Police Commissioner Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, and Maharashtra Police Chief Datta Padsalgikar.
